Our
applicant tracking system is widely used to record all the
stages in a sales process. It was developed as a contact
management system which tracks all contact that has been
made with a given customer, the purpose of the contact,
and any follow up that may be required. This ensured
that sales efforts would not be duplicated, thus
eliminating the risk of frustrating customers.
From this stage, we added an applicant tracking module
that stores a candidate's personal contact information
and resume; making it readily available (via detailed
searches) for proper job placement. This final
development gave us a true customer relationship
management* database.
*Customer relationship management (CRM) is a
term applied to processes implemented by a company to
handle their contact with their customers. CRM software
is used to support these processes, storing information
on customers and prospective customers. Information in
the system can be accessed and entered by employees in
different departments. Details on any customer
contacts can also be stored in the system. The rationale
behind this approach is to improve services provided
directly to customers and to use the information in the
system for targeted marketing and sales purposes.
